I am working with UE4 for a study, at a beginner level, and we're trying to access raw data. When using the SRanipal functions in blueprint, it seems that the outputs from the different get nodes are exclusively booleans, which isn't of much use for us. So my very naive question is: is there anything that I have missed from the blueprint? Or would I need to write down my own functions? Thank you very much in advance, Cheers, Assim.
The boolean return value can verify if the data is valid. You can get data with belows blueprint sample. It appears the attachment to your original post has disappeared. We're trying to get data from UE4 as well. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment.

I need a different dynamic UI for different eyes in VR. I am trying to create some thing that is working with eye tracker and I have to draw an image on the location that player is looking.
Problem is when I use a single UMG it is only drawn for the left eye and if I use a stereo layer it is exatcly the same and it is a problem when player try to focus on some thing that is in the middle of the screen.
I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to do but if stereo layers aren't working for you you can create a couple of materials that only display in the right or left eye using screen position. You can then take each UMG and override its material with either the "right only" or "Left only" material.
In the screenshot I've attached the Opacity mask is configured so the material will only display on the left side of the screen. You can reverse the IF node to make one for right only.

Is Stereo Gaze Data Available. Set Eye Tracked Player.This week presented quite a scare. Just as my programming progress was coming to an ambitious end, my computer dies! Thankfully I have a habit of backing up all my data so not much of a loss there. However, because my computer took five days to fix I was unable to accomplish as much as I would have hoped.
So, for this week, instead of programming new mechanics I took the liberty of reading up on PBR physically based renderers theory and practice. Since the prototype I am creating will eventually be a polished system mechanically and aestheticallyI started looking into photo-realism workflows.
I can't stress how important it is to understand how light travels and interacts with various surface material, I have learned so much from something I thought I knew a lot about.
Learning about PBR this week was not what I intended, but am glad I was able to work on something just as important as programming is for my thesis. For this week I spent 13 hours and accomplished: 1 Reading and learning about the Light Ray Model, how light interacts with reflective and refractive surfaces, light absorption and scattering, physically based fresnel values, dielectric and conductor properties, Bidirectional Reflection Distribution Function BRDFmicrosurface reflections, angle of incident, surface normal, and viewing angle, and energy conservation.
Expected activities for next week: For next week I will have the player using eye tracking the "director" possess camera pawns scattered in the environment. This functionality will also be one of the core mechanics of the interface to make it easier for machinimators to record in-game performances. This week came with great success! The target lock-on mechanic via UE4 networking no longer possesses the thesis endangerment it once nobly held. As articulated in expected deliveries for this week, the focus was mainly discovering and implementing a solution for a target-lock on mechanic, and if time allows implementing a mechanic allowing a player the ability to possess camera pawns scattered in the environment.
Unfortunately, the camera possessing mechanic foe will have to wait, it seems to be a much more complex system than anticipated. I did however create a light manipulation mechanic enabling the player to- in real-time- adjust light intensity and light radius.

I created two custom vector variables which correspond to the world direction value. This value determines the direction and speed of the "added movement. I have experienced ongoing issues regarding obtaining the "performers" location over a network so for now the "director" locks on to its last known location.
Thesis Development: Integrating Tobii EyeX, Virtual Reality, and UE4
This week was slow in terms of implementing game mechanics, but I am beginning to understand UE4 networking. The complexity involved for when to replicate actors, variables, functions, and asking the server to perform a sequence of code from a client to another client can be daunting for newcomers, especially since there is little documentation on this matter.
After submitting countless posts on forums and searching for networking answers within the net, I came to one conclusion- I am on my own for now I was born to be an artist, not a programmer! Nevertheless, I've had some success in replicating variables and functions! My initial task for this week was to create a mechanic where the player using eye tracking would be able to possess camera pawns scattered in the environment by means of gaze. Unfortunately, this mechanic will have to hold off until next week, as I encountered many hurdles along the way.
For this week I spent 18 hours and accomplished: 1 Modifying an eye gaze mechanic for my third person character blueprint so when the player uses eye tracking to open the door, the door opens and closes in the listen server AND client.
It was tricky to get this to work because first off the door would not show up on the client, only on the server. I quickly realized within the door opening blueprint there was a check-box where you can tick an option called "replicate. Now, generally I would consolidate the door opening code into one function, so after the custom event is called it would run the one function containing the door opening code. Ue4 eye tracking
Eye tracking. Gesture and hand tracking. Combined with the headsets integrated eye - tracking functionality, users can supposedly expect lifelike virtual content featuring levels of detail not currently offered by other major providers. The text quality, combined with eye trackingmakes this the first headset to move us closer to virtual reality feeling real. Another key part of Manus Polygon is the networked object tracking feature.

What would be really interesting is be to see the CouchKnights demo using Tobii! I apologize for the additional questions. This is very new to me and fascinating. How far can you be from the eye tracking device? For example could you put it in a conference room on top of a projector so you are feet away?
Can you set control parameters. For example; does it register blinks? Say 2 blinks for yes, long blink for no. Can it work with more than one person at a time on a single device or would you need multiple trackers? What is the average tracking latency?
